Spring Reverie Triangle Shawl - Crochet Pattern

Today I would like to introduce you to my Spring Reverie ShawlThis simple yet beautiful lightweight triangle shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows. To make this item, you should be familiar with basic crochet stitches and terminology. All you need to start is one skein of your favourite fingering weight gradient yarn (I used YarnArt Flowers) and a 4 mm crochet hook.

Written Pattern

Finished Size: Height - 79 cm (31,1 in), Width - 164 cm (64,5 in).
You can adjust the size of the shawl by adding or subtracting pattern repeats.
1 pattern repeat (Row 5 - 14) - approx 10 cm (4 in). I made a total of 5 pattern repeats.

Gauge: 10 stitches x 5 rows = 5cm x 5cm (2’’ x 2’’) in double crochet.


Skill Level: Easy

Materials Used:

  • Fingering weight yarn, size 1 - super fineI used YarnArt Flowers (250g/ 1000m) 55% cotton, 45% acrylic yarn in color 2681 skein of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 4.0 mm (US size G/6) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or a latch hook.


  • Abbreviations (US terms):

    st. / sts - stitch / stitches
    ch - chain
    sc - single crochet

    dc - double crochet
    trc - treble crochet

    ()* – repeat the instructions between the brackets as directed.






    PATTERN NOTES:

    •  The shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows.
    • Beginning (turning) chains count as stitches – ch3 counts as 1dc, ch4 counts as 1dc + ch1, ch5 counts as 1trc + ch1.
    • Pattern repeat : Row 5 – 14.
    • Center ch3 is not included into stitch count at the end of each row.


    Instructions

    Start with ch4, sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

    Row 1: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into ring, ch3, 3dc into ring.  
    (6dc)

    Row 2: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., ch1, skip next 2 sts, (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1) into next ch3 space, skip next 2 sts, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.  
    (12dc + 2 ch1)

    Row 3: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., ch1, skip next 2 sts, 3dc into next ch1 space, ch1, skip next 3 sts, (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1) into center ch3 space, skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next ch1 space, ch1, skip next 2 sts, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.
    (18dc + 4 ch1)

    Row 4: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., 1dc into each of next 2 sts, (1dc into next ch1 space, 1dc into each of next 3 sts)* repeat until center ch3.
    (2dc, ch3, 2dc) into center ch3 space, 
    (1dc into each of next 3 sts, 1dc into next ch1 space)* repeat until 3 sts left. 
    1dc into each of next 2 sts, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.
    (30dc)

    Row 5: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., ch1, skip next 2 sts, 3dc into next st., ch1, 
    (skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until 3 sts left to center ch3. (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1) into center ch3 space, 
    (skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until 3 sts left, 
    skip next 2 sts, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.
    (30dc + 8 ch1)

    Row 6: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., ch1, skip next 2 sts, 3dc into next ch1 space, ch1, 
    (skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat until 3 sts left to center ch3, 
    (3dc, ch3, 3dc, ch1) into center ch3 space, 
    (skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat until 3 sts left, 
    skip next 2 sts, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.
    (36dc + 10 ch1)

    Rows 7 - 9: repeat Row 6
    Row 7 (42dc + 12 ch1); Row 8 (48dc + 14 ch1); Row 9 (54dc + 16 ch1)  

    Row 10: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., 1dc into each of next 2 sts, (1dc into next ch1 space, 1dc into each of next 3 sts)* repeat until center ch3.
    (2dc, ch3, 2dc) into center ch3 space, 
    (1dc into each of next 3 sts, 1dc into next ch1 space)* repeat until 3 sts left. 
    1dc into each of next 2 sts, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.

    Row 11: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1, 
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until center ch3, 
    (1dc, ch3, 1dc, ch1) into center ch3 space, 1dc into next st., ch1, 
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until 2 sts left, 
    skip next st., (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into 3rd ch of turning ch3.

    Row 12: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1, 
    (skip next ch1, 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until center ch3,

    (skip next 3 sts, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch1, skip next 3 sts, (1trc, ch1)* repeat 5 times into next ch1 space)* repeat until 3 sts left to center ch3, 
    (1sc, ch1, (1trc, ch1)* repeat 5 times, 1sc, ch1) into center ch3 space,

    (55 scallops + 1 half scallop at the beginning of row + 1 half scallop at the end of row)

    Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
