Pretty Daisy Doily Crochet Pattern

Today I have a simple yet elegant crochet Pretty Daisy Doily pattern to share with you. It is made in 15 rounds using sport weight 100% cotton yarn and a 3 mm crochet hook.

Written Pattern:

Size: The doily measures approximately 32 cm (12.6 inches) in diameter.
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials Used:
  • Sport weight yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Drops Safran 100% cotton yarn weight/length: 50 g = approx 160 m in colorway 18 (off white). 30 grams (96 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.


Abbreviations (US terms):

st./sts - stitch/stitches
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet
trc3(4)tog - 3 or 4 treble crochet closed together

trc3tog - 3 treble crochet closed together (yarn over twice, insert the hook into next st., yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook)* repeat 2 more times. Now you have 4 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.

trc4tog 4 treble crochet closed together - (yarn over twice, insert the hook into next st., yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook)* repeat 3 more times. Now you have 5 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.




Instructions:

Start with ch5, sl st. into first ch to form a ring. Or, you can make a magic (adjustable) ring.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), 15dc into ring. (16 sts)
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1,
(1dc into next dc st., ch1)* repeat 15 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.

Round 3: ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into next ch1 space, 
(1dc into next dc st., 2dc into next ch1 space)* repeat 15 times around. (48 sts)
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 4: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into next 3 dc sts, ch2,
(1dc into next 4 dc sts, ch2)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as 1trc of trc4tog), trc3tog over next 3 dc sts - first trc4tog made, ch5, 1dc into next ch2 space,
(ch5, trc4tog over next 4 dc sts, ch5, 1dc into next ch2 space)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1dc on top of trc3tog at the beginning of the round.

Round 6: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1dc into first sc.

Round 7: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch6, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1trc into first sc.

Round 8: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1trc) space of the previous round, 
(ch6, 1sc into next ch6 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1trc into first sc.

Round 9: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1trc) space of the previous round, 
(ch7, 1sc into next ch6 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch3 + 1trc into first sc.

Round 10: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch3 + 1trc) space of the previous round, ch7,
(1sc into next ch7 space, ch7)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc.



Round 11: sl st. into next 2 ch sts of next ch7, sl st. into that same ch7 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 4dc into same ch7 space, ch2,
(5dc into next ch7 space, ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 12: sl st. into next 4 dc sts, sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into same ch2 space, ch3, 2dc into same ch2 space, ch1,
(skip next 5 dc sts, (2dc, ch3, 2dc) into next ch2 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 13: sl st. into next dc st., sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into same ch3 space, ch2, 3dc into same ch3 space, ch1, skip next 2 dc sts, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch1,
(skip next 2 dc sts, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) into next ch3 space, ch1, skip next 2 dc sts, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.


Round 14: sl st. into next dc st., ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1, 1dc into next dc st., ch1, (1dc, ch1)* repeat 3 times into next ch2 space, 1dc into next dc st., ch1, 1dc into next dc st.,
(skip next dc st., skip next ch1, skip next sc st., skip next ch1, skip next dc st., 1dc into next dc st., ch1, 1dc into next dc st., ch1, (1dc, ch1)* repeat 3 times into next ch2 space, 1dc into next dc st., ch1, 1dc into next dc st.)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3 (into 3rd ch).

Round 15: sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3, skip next dc st., 1sc into next ch1 space, ch3, skip next dc st., 1sc into next ch1 space, ch5, skip next dc st, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch3, skip next dc st., 1sc into next ch1 space, ch3, skip next dc st., sl st. into next ch1 space,

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.

Written Pattern:

Size: The placemat measures approximately 
30 cm x 23 cm (11.8 inches x 9 inches).
You can adjust the size of the placemat by adding or subtracting rounds and making the foundation row longer or shorter.



Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials Used:
  • Sport weight mercerized cotton yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Madame Tricote Paris Camilla yarn in the colorway 5329 (light green). 47 grams (118 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3.0mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

dc2tog (dc2cluster) - 2 double crochet closed together

ch3picot - ch3, insert your hook into base of that ch3, yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.



Instructions:

Foundation row: (ch3, dc2tog into 3rd ch from hook)* repeat 3 times.







Round 1: ch4, 2dc into 4th ch from hook, (ch2, 3dc into same ch st.)* repeat 2 times, ch1,



(3dc, ch1) into each of next 2 ch sts where dc2tog stitches were made,



(3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc) into first ch st. of the foundation row, ch1,



Now we are going to work on the other side of the foundation row.
(3dc, ch1) into each of next 2 ch sts where dc2tog stitches were made.
Join with a sl st. on top of the beginning ch3.



Round 2: sl st. into next 2 dc sts, sl st. into next ch2 corner space, ch3(counts as a dc), (2dc, ch2, 3dc) into that same ch2 corner space, ch1,
(3dc, ch2, 3dc) into next ch2 corner space, ch1,



(3dc, ch1) into each of next ch1 spaces until you reach next ch2 corner space,
(3dc, ch2, 3dc) into that same ch2 corner space, ch1, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) into next ch2 corner space, ch1,



(3dc, ch1) into each of next ch1 spaces until the end of the round,
Join with a sl st. on top of the beginning ch3.
