Rose Sienna Shawl - Free Crochet Pattern

This time I would like to share my Rose Sienna Triangle Shawl crochet pattern with you. This simple yet beautiful lightweight triangle shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows. To make this item, you should be familiar with basic crochet stitches and terminology. All you need to start is one skein of your favourite fingering weight gradient cake yarn (I used YarnArt Flowers) and a 4 mm crochet hook.

Written Pattern

Finished Size: Height - 77 cm (30,3 in), Width - 154 cm (60,6 in).
You can adjust the size of the shawl by adding or subtracting pattern repeats.
1 pattern repeat (Row 3 - 18) - approx 16 cm (6,3 in). I made a total of 3 pattern repeats.

Gauge: 10 stitches x 4 rows = 5cm x 5cm (2’’ x 2’’) in double crochet.


Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials Used:

  • Fingering weight yarn, size 1 - super fineI used YarnArt Flowers (250g/ 1000m) 55% cotton, 45% acrylic yarn in color 2791 skein of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 4.0 mm (US size G/6) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or a latch hook.




  • Abbreviations (US terms):

    st. / sts - stitch / stitches
    ch - chain
    sc - single crochet

    dc - double crochet
    trc - treble crochet
    dc3tog - 3 double crochet closed together

    ch3picot - ch3, insert your hook into center of the base stitch, yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

    ()* – repeat the instructions between the brackets as directed.






    PATTERN NOTES:

    • The shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows.
    • Beginning (turning) chains count as stitches – ch3 counts as 1dc, ch4 counts as 1dc + ch1, ch5 counts as 1trc + ch1.
    • Pattern repeat : Row 3 – 18.
    • Center ch2 is not included into stitch count at the end of each row.


    Instructions

    Start with ch4, sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

    Row 1: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into ring, ch2, 3dc into ring.

    Row 2: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1, skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1, (1dc, ch2, 1dc, ch1) into next ch2 space, 1dc into next st., ch1, skip next st., (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into last st. (3rd ch of turning ch3).
    (8dc + 6 ch1)

    Row 3: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., (1dc into next ch1 space, 1dc into next st.)* repeat until center ch2,
    (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into center ch2 space, 1dc into next st., 
    (1dc into next ch1 space, 1dc into next st.)* repeat until turning ch4 left,
    1dc into turning ch4 space, 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch4.
    (22dc)

    Row 4: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st., 1dc into each st. until center ch2,
    (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into center ch2 space,
    1dc into each st. until last st. (turning ch3) left,
    3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.

    Row 5: repeat Row 4.

    Row 6: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1, 
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until center ch2, 
    (1dc, ch2, 1dc, ch1) into center ch2 space, 1dc into next st., ch1, 
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until 2 sts left, 
    skip next st., (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into last st. (3rd ch of turning ch3).

    Row 7: ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), turn, 3sc into first st.,
    (1sc into next ch1 space, 1sc into next st.)* repeat until center ch2,
    (2sc, ch2, 2sc) into center ch2 space, 1sc into next st., 
    (1sc into next ch1 space, 1sc into next st.)* repeat until turning ch4 left,
    1sc into turning ch4 space, 3sc into 3rd ch of turning ch4.

    Row 51 (border row): ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), turn, 1sc into first st., ch3picot,

    (2sc, ch3picot, 2sc, ch3picot, 1sc) into center ch2 space, 1sc into next st., ch3picot,
    (1sc into next ch1 space, 1sc into next st., ch3picot)* repeat until turning ch4 left,
    1sc into turning ch4 space, 1sc into 3rd ch of turning ch4, ch3picot.
    (403sc + 202 ch3picots)

    Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in all ends.
