Crochet Ribbed Scarf - Free Pattern

Written Pattern

Finished Size:  Length - 170 cm (67''); Width - 17 cm (6,7'')

The size can be adjustable

Gauge: 12 stitches x 11 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches)

Skill Level: Easy - advanced beginner.

Materials Used:

Worsted weight yarn, size 4 - medium. I used Nako Vega 100% acrylic yarn (100 grams / 195 meters) in color 11237. 2 skeins (190 grams, 372 meters) of yarn needed for this pattern.

6.0 mm (US size J/10) crochet hook.

Scissors.

Yarn needle or a latch hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st(s) - stitch(es)
ch - chain

sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet

[ ] - work all stitches inside brackets in the same stitch.

(  )* – repeat instructions between the parentheses as directed.

( ) - stitch count for each row is listed in italic parentheses at the end of each row.

Pattern notes:

• The scarf is worked in a simple one row repeat, making the pattern easy to memorize.
• The scarf is worked lengthwise, starting with the full length of the scarf as the foundation chain. To make the scarf longer or shorter, adjust the number of chains in your foundation chain, keeping the count even.
• The width of the scarf is determined by the number of rows. To adjust the width, work more or fewer rows, keeping the total number of rows even.

Instructions

Foundation chain: ch200 (or any even number of chains for desired length)

Row 1: working in back bumps of the foundation chain, [1 sc, 1 hdc] in second chain from hook,

(skip next ch, [1 sc, 1 hdc] in next ch)* repeat across until 2 chains remain.

Skip next ch, 1 sc in last ch.

(199 sts)

Row 2: ch1 (doesn't count as a st), turn, [1 sc, 1 hdc] in back loop of first st,

(skip next st, [1 sc, 1 hdc] in back loop of next st)* repeat across until 2 sts remain.

Skip next st, 1 sc in back loop of the last st.

(199 sts)

Row 3 - 18: repeat Row 2

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

For a wider scarf, add an even number of rows.
