Written Pattern:
Size: The doily placemat measures 28 cm (11 inches) in diameter.
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate
Gauge: 10 stitches = 5cm (2 inches) in double crochet
Materials Used:
- DK weight cotton acrylic blend yarn, size 3 - light. I used Nako Calico yarn. 25 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
- 4mm (US size G/6) crochet hook.
- Scissors.
- Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.
Abbreviations (US terms):
st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet
ch4picot - ch4, insert your hook into the center of the base stitch (or, insert the hook into first ch), yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.
()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.
Instructions:
Start with ch5, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), 15dc into the ring.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1,
(1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat 15 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 3: ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into next ch1 space,
(1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch1 space)* repeat 15 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 4: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch2,
(skip 1st., 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 5: ch1, 1sc into the base of that ch1, 2sc into next ch2 space,
(1sc into next st., 2sc into next ch2 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc.
Round 6: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch3,
(skip 2sts, 1dc into next st., ch3)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 7: ch3 (counts as a dc), 3dc into next ch3 space,
(1dc into next st., 3dc into next ch3 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 8: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch2, 1dc into the base of that first ch3, ch2,
(skip 3sts, (1dc, ch2, 1dc) into next st., ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 9: sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 4dc into that same ch2 space, ch3, skip next ch2, 3sc into next ch2 space, ch3,
(skip next ch2, 5dc into next ch2 space, ch3, skip next ch2, 3sc into next ch2 space, ch3)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 10: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into the base of that ch3, 1dc into next st., (1trc, ch4picot, 1trc) into next st., 1dc into next st., 2dc into next st., ch3, skip ch3, skip 1 st., 1sc into next st., ch3,
(skip 1 st., skip ch3, 2dc into next st., 1dc into next st., (1trc, ch4picot, 1trc) into next st., 1dc into next st., 2dc into next st., ch3, skip ch3, skip 1st., 1sc into next st., ch3)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
