Vintage Pink Doily Placemat - Free Crochet Pattern



Hello Everyone! 🙂 
This time I have the Vintage Pink Doily Placemat crochet pattern to share with you. If you are familiar with the basic stitches and know how to crochet in the round, you are good to go. All you need to start to make this is some yarn or thread in the color of your choice and a crochet hook.

Written Pattern:

Size: The doily measures approx. 33 cm (13 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level: Easy

Materials Used:

  • Sport weight yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Nako Fiore 25% linen, 35% cotton, 40% bamboo viscose yarn in color 11526 (coral). 40 grams (120 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.



  • Abbreviations (US terms):

    st./sts - stitch / stitches
    ch - chain
    sl st. - slip stitch
    sc - single crochet
    dc - double crochet

    ()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.






    Instructions:

    Note that the doily can curl up at some points of making it. Don't worry, it will flatten back down when further rounds are done!


    Start with ch5, sl st. into first ch to form a ring. Or, you can make a magic (adjustable) ring.

    Round 1: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 15dc into ring.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.  (16 sts)

    Round 2: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
    (1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 15 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5. 


    Round 3: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into next ch2 space,
    (1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space)* repeat 15 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3. (48 sts)

    Round 4: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.

    Round 5: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into next ch2 space,
    (1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space)* repeat 23 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3. (72 sts)

    Round 6: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 35 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.

    Round 7: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into next ch2 space,
    (1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space)* repeat 35 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.  (108 sts)

    Round 8: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 53 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.

    Round 9: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into next ch2 space,
    (1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space)* repeat 53 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.  (162 sts)

    Round 10: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
    (skip next 2 sts, 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 53 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.

    Round 11:  ch6 (counts as 1dc + ch3),
    (skip next ch2, 1dc into next st., ch3)* repeat 53 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch6.

    Round 12: sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (counts as 1dc), (2dc, ch3, 3dc) into same ch3 space,
    (skip next st., skip next ch3, skip next st., (3dc, ch3, 3dc) into next ch3 space)* repeat 26 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.

    Round 13: sl st. into next 2 sts, sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (counts as 1dc), (2dc, ch3, 3dc) into same ch3 space, ch2, 1sc between the following 3rd and 4th sts, ch2,
    ((3dc, ch3, 3dc) into next ch3 space, ch2, 1sc between the following 3rd and 4th sts, ch2)* repeat 26 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.


    Round 14: sl st. into next st., ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into next st., (3dc, ch3, 3dc) into next ch3 space, 1dc into each of next 2 sts, 
    (skip next st., skip next ch2, skip next st., skip next ch2, skip next st., 1dc into each of next 2 sts, (3dc, ch3, 3dc) into next ch3 space, 1dc into each of next 2 sts)* repeat 26 times around.
    Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.

    Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
