The Everest Triangle Shawl - Free Crochet Pattern



Hello Everyone!πŸ™‚
Today I would like to share my Everest Triangle Shawl crochet pattern with you. This simple and lightweight triangle shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows. To make this shawl, you must be familiar with basic crochet stitches and terminology.
I used one skein of YarnArt Flowers gradient ''cake'' yarn and a 4 mm crochet hook.

Written Pattern

Finished Size: Height - 83 cm (32,7''), Width - 170 cm (67'').

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate 

Materials Used:

  • Fingering weight yarn, size 1 - super fineI used YarnArt Flowers (250g/ 1000m) 55% cotton, 45% acrylic yarn in color 251. 1 skein of yarn (1000 meters) needed for this pattern.
  • 4.0 mm (US size G/6) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or a latch hook.
  •  

    Abbreviations (US terms):

    sp. / sps.
    - space / spaces
    st. / sts - stitch / stitches
    sl st. - slip stitch
    ch - chain
    sc - single crochet

    hdc - half double crochet
    dc - double crochet
    dc3tog - 3 double crochet closed together


    ( )* – repeat the instructions between the brackets as directed.



    PATTERN NOTES:

    • The shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows.
    • You can adjust the size of the shawl by adding or subtracting the pattern repeats of main shawl part (Row 4). The total row count of the main shawl part must be any multiple of 3. 




    Instructions


    MAIN SHAWL ROWS

    Make a magic (adjustable) ring, 
    or ch4, sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

    Row 1: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 3dc in ring, ch2, 4dc in ring.
    (2 groups of 4dc, 1 ch2 sp.)

    Row 2: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 3dc in first st., ch1, skip next 3 sts, (3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1) in next ch2 sp., skip next 3 sts, 4dc in last st. (in 3rd ch of turning ch3).
    (2 groups of 4dc, 2 groups of 3dc, 2 ch1 sps, 1 corner ch2 sp.)

    Row 3: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 3dc in first st., ch1, skip next 3 sts, 3dc in next ch1 sp., ch1, skip next 3 sts, (3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1) in corner ch2 sp., skip next 3 sts, 3dc in next ch1 sp., ch1, skip next 3 sts, 4dc in last st. (in 3rd ch of turning ch3).
    (2 groups of 4dc, 4 groups of 3dc, 4 ch1 sps, 1 corner ch2 sp.)

    Row 4: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 3dc in first st., ch1, 
    (skip next 3 sts, 3dc in next ch1 sp., ch1)* repaeat until 3 sts left to corner ch2, 
    skip 3 sts, (3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1) in corner ch2 sp., 
    (skip next 3 sts, 3dc in next ch1 sp., ch1)* repeat until 4 sts left to the end of row, 
    skip next 3 sts, 4dc in last st. (in 3rd ch of turning ch3).
    (2 groups of 4dc, 6 groups of 3dc, 6 ch1 sps, 1 corner ch2 sp.)



    Row 5 - 54: repeat Row 4!
    Each following row will increase the group of 3dc count by 2 and the ch1 space count by 2!

    Do not fasten off!



    BORDER ROWS

    Row 55: ch4, turn, skip 4 sts, 1sc in next ch1 sp.,
    (ch4, skip next 3 sts, 1sc in next ch1 sp.)* repeat until 3 sts left to corner ch2,
    ch4, skip next 3 sts, (1sc, ch5, 1sc) in corner ch2 sp.,
    (ch4, skip next 3 sts, 1sc in next ch1 sp.)* repeat until 4 sts left to the end of row,
    ch2, skip next 3 sts, 1hdc in last st. (in 3rd ch of turning ch3)
    (108sc, 107 ch4 sps, 1 ch5 sp. in corner, (1 ch2 sp. + 1hdc) at the end of row))

    Row 56: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, (1dc, ch1)* repeat 3 times in first ch sp., skip next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp., ch4, skip next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp.,
    (ch1, skip next st., (1dc, ch1)* repeat 6 times in next ch4 sp., skip next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp., ch4, skip next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp.)* repeat until corner ch5,
    ch1, skip next st., (1dc, ch1)* repeat 8 times in corner ch5 sp., skip next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp., ch4, skip next st., 1sc in next ch4 sp.,
