Cocoa Latte Triangle Shawl - Free Crochet Pattern


Today I would like to share with you my Cocoa Latte Shawl crochet pattern. This simple yet elegant lightweight triangle shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows. 
The pattern is worked using crochet stitches such as: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, front post double crochet and back post double crochet. 
All you need to start is one skein of your favourite fingering weight yarn (I used one skein of Alize Bella Ombre Batik gradient ''cake'' yarn) and a 4 mm crochet hook.

Written Pattern

Finished Size: Height - 61 cm (24''), Width - 144 cm (56,7'').

You can adjust the size of the shawl by adding or subtracting pattern repeats.
1 pattern repeat (Row 3 - 8) - approx 6 cm (2,36''). I made a total of 7 pattern repeats.


Gauge: 10 stitches = 5 cm (2’’) in double crochet.

Skill Level: Intermediate 


Materials Used:

  • Fingering weight yarn, size 1 - super fineI used Alize Bella Ombre Batik 100% cotton yarn in color 7410. 180 grams (650 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 4.0 mm (US size G/6) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or a latch hook. 


  • Abbreviations (US terms):

    st./sts - stitch / stitches
    sp./sps - space / spaces
    ch - chain
    sc - single crochet

    dc - double crochet

    fpdc - front post double crochet - Yarn over, insert the hook from front to back to front around the post of the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook.

    bpdc - back post double crochet - Yarn over, insert the hook from back to front to back around the post of the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook.

    ()* – repeat the instructions between the brackets as directed.


    PATTERN NOTES:

    •  The shawl is worked from the top down, in back and forth rows.
    • Beginning (turning) chains count as stitches – ch3 counts as 1dc, ch4 counts as 1dc + ch1.
    • Pattern repeat : Row 3 – 8.
    • Centre ch2 is not included into stitch count at the end of each row.







    Instructions

    Start with ch4, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

    Row 1 (right side): ch3 (counts as 1dc), (4dc, ch2, 5dc) into ring. 
    (10 dc sts)

    Row 2 (wrong side): ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1,
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat 2 times,
    (1dc, ch2, 1dc, ch1) into centre ch2 space,
    1dc into next st., ch1, skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1,
    skip next st., (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into 3rd ch of beginning ch3 of previous row. 
    (10 dc sts, 8 ch1 sps)


    Row 3: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st.,
    (1dc into next ch1 sp., 1dc into next st.)* repeat until centre ch2,
    (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into centre ch2 sp., 1dc into next st., 
    (1dc into next ch1 sp., 1dc into next st.)* repeat until turning ch4 left,
    1dc into turning ch4 sp., 3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch4. 
    (26 dc sts)

    Row 4: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st.,
    1fpdc into next st. and each st. until centre ch2,
    (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into centre ch2 sp.,
    1fpdc into each st. until turning ch3 left,
    3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3. 
    (24 fpdc sts, 10 dc sts)

    Row 5: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 2dc into first st.,
    1bpdc into next st. and each st. until centre ch2,
    (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into centre ch2 sp.,
    1bpdc into each st. until turning ch3 left,
    3dc into 3rd ch of turning ch3.

    Row 6: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1,
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until centre ch2,
    (1dc, ch2, 1dc, ch1) into centre ch2 sp., 1dc into next st., ch1,
    (skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat until 1 st. and turning ch3 left,
    skip next st., (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into 3rd ch of turning ch3. 
    (26 dc sts, 24 ch1 sps)

    Row 7: ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1, 1dc into next ch1 sp., ch1,
    (skip next st., 1dc into next ch1 sp., ch1)* repeat until 1 st. left to centre ch2,
    (2dc, ch2, 2dc, ch1) into centre ch2 sp., 
    (skip next st., 1dc into next ch1 sp., ch1)* repeat until 1 st. and turning ch4 left,
    skip next st., 1dc into turning ch4 sp., ch1, 2dc into 3rd ch of turning ch4. 
    (32 dc sts, 26 ch1 sps)

    Row 8: ch4 (counts as 1dc + ch1), turn, 1dc into first st., ch1,
    (skip next st., 1dc into next ch1 sp., ch1)* repeat until 2 sts left to centre ch2, skip next st., 1dc into next st., ch1,
    (1dc, ch2, 1dc, ch1) into centre ch2 sp., 1dc into next st., ch1,

    Row 9 - 44: repeat Row 3 - 8 six more times.


    Row 45 (border row): ch3 (counts as 1dc), turn, 3dc into first st., skip next ch1, 
    (skip next st., 1sc into next ch1 sp., ch3, skip next st., 1sc into next ch1 sp., skip next st., 4dc into next ch1 sp.)* repeat until 1 st. left to centre ch2,
    skip next st., (1sc, ch3, 1sc) into centre ch2 sp.,

    Ch1, fasten off. Weave in all ends, steam and block the shawl.

    Oval Violet Doily - Free Crochet Pattern

    Today I have the Oval Violet Doily crochet pattern to share with you. It is made in only 15 rounds using mercerised cotton yarn and a 3 mm crochet hookAll you need to start is a crochet hook and some yarn or thread in the color of your choice.

    Elegant Market Tote Bag - Crochet Pattern

    Today i am sharing my Elegant Market Tote Bag crochet pattern with you. Perfect for market, beach trips, day trips, etc. It's very easy to make - worked in joined rounds using basic stitches - chain, slip stitch, single crochet and half double crochet.
    The handle straps are crocheted directly onto the body so the bag is one piece with no extra seaming.

    Written Pattern:

    Finished Size: Height without handles: 32 cm (12,6''), Width: 33 cm (13''), Depth: 9cm (3,5'').

    Skill Level: Easy (advanced beginner)

    • Worsted - Aran weight cord type yarn, size 4 - medium. I used YarnArt Macrame Cotton - (250 grams / 225 meters) - 80% Cotton, 20% Polyester. 2 skeins (approx 345 meters) needed for this pattern.

    • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving / sewing in ends.

    Place stitch markers (optional)! 
    Skip 14 sts, first stitch marker into 15th st.,
    Skip 21 sts, second stitch marker into 22nd st.,
    Skip 22 sts, third stitch marker into 23rd st.,
    Skip 21 sts, fourth stitch marker into 22nd st.


    Round 29: ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), 1hdc into same st., 1hdc into next 14 sts, ch70, skip next 21 sts, 1hdc into next 24 sts, ch70, skip next 21 sts, 1hdc into remaining 9 sts. 
    Join with a sl st. into first hdc at the beginning of round. (48 hdc sts, 140 chains)

    Round 30: ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), 1hdc into same st., 1hdc into each st., 1hdc into each ch around.
    Join with a sl st. into first hdc at the beginning of round.   (188 hdc sts)

    Round 31: ch1 (doesn't count as a st.), 1hdc into same st., 1hdc into each st. around.
    Join with a sl st. into first hdc at the beginning of round.   (188 hdc sts)


    Fasten off and weave in all ends using a yarn needle or a latch hook.
