This time I would like to share the Classic Tote Shoulder Bag crochet pattern with you. This beautiful bag will suit any style and any occasion. It's very easy to make - worked in joined rounds using basic stitches - chain, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet.
I used YarnArt Macrame Cotton, but any worsted weight cotton or cotton blend yarn will work.

Finished Size: Height without handle straps: 36cm (14,2''), Height with handle straps: 63cm (24,8''), Width: 39cm (15,4''), Depth: 6cm (2,4'')

Materials Used:
- Worsted - Aran weight cord type yarn, size 4 - medium. I used YarnArt Macrame Cotton - (250 grams / 225 meters) - 80% Cotton, 20% Polyester. 2 skeins needed for this pattern.
- 5 mm (H) crochet hook.
- Scissors.
- Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends.
- 4 stitch markers (optional).
Abbreviations (US terms):
st./sts - stitch / stitches
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
( )* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.
Instructions:
Foundation chain: ch47
Round 1: 2dc into 4th ch from hook, 1dc into next 42 ch sts, 6dc into last ch st., 1dc into next 42 ch sts on the other side of foundation chain, 3dc into last ch st. Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
(96 dc sts including ch3 at the beginning of round)
Round 2: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into same st., 2dc into next 2 sts, 1dc into next 42 sts, 2dc into next 6 sts, 1dc into next 42 sts, 2dc into remaining 3 sts.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3. (108 dc sts)
Round 3 - 4: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into each st. around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3. (108 dc sts)
Round 5: sl st. into next 2 sts, ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
(skip next 2 sts, 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 35 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.
Round 6: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into next ch2 space, 1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space, 1dc into next st., ch2,
(skip next ch2, 1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space, 1dc into next st., 2dc into next ch2 space, 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
Round 7: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into next 2 sts, ch1, skip next st., 1dc into next 3 sts, ch2,
(skip next ch2, 1dc into next 3 sts, ch1, skip next st., 1dc into next 3 sts, ch2)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
Round 8: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into next 2 sts, 1dc into next ch1 space, 1dc into next 3 sts, ch2,
(skip next ch2, 1dc into next 3 sts, 1dc into next ch1 space, 1dc into next 3 sts, ch2)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.
Round 9: ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2), skip next 2 sts, 1dc into next st., ch2, skip next 2 sts, 1dc into next st., ch2,
(skip next ch2, 1dc into next st., ch2, skip next 2 sts, 1dc into next st., ch2, skip next 2 sts, 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.
Round 10 - 21: Repeat Round 6 - 9 three more times.
Round 22: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc into next ch2 space,
1dc into each st., 2dc into each ch2 space around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3 (108 dc sts)
Insert stitch markers (optional)!
Skip 12 sts, first stitch marker into 13th st.,
Skip 26 sts, second stitch marker into 27th st.,
Skip 26 sts, third stitch marker into 27th st.,
Skip 26 sts, fourth stitch marker into 27th st.
Round 23: ch1 (doesn't count as st.), 1sc into same st.,1sc into next 12 sts, ch70, skip next 26 sts, 1sc into next 28 sts, ch70, skip next 26 sts, 1sc into remaining 15 sts.
Join with a sl st. into first sc. (56 sc sts, 140 chains)
Round 24: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into each st., 1dc into each ch around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3. (196 dc sts)
Round 25: sl st. into each st. around.
Join with a sl st. into first sl st. (196 sl sts)
