Pretty Daisy Doily Crochet Pattern

Today I have a simple yet elegant crochet Pretty Daisy Doily pattern to share with you. It is made in 15 rounds using sport weight 100% cotton yarn and a 3 mm crochet hook.

Written Pattern:

Size: The doily measures approximately 32 cm (12.6 inches) in diameter.
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials Used:
  • Sport weight yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Drops Safran 100% cotton yarn weight/length: 50 g = approx 160 m in colorway 18 (off white). 30 grams (96 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.


Abbreviations (US terms):

st./sts - stitch/stitches
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet
trc3(4)tog - 3 or 4 treble crochet closed together

trc3tog - 3 treble crochet closed together (yarn over twice, insert the hook into next st., yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook)* repeat 2 more times. Now you have 4 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.

trc4tog 4 treble crochet closed together - (yarn over twice, insert the hook into next st., yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook)* repeat 3 more times. Now you have 5 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.




Instructions:

Start with ch5, sl st. into first ch to form a ring. Or, you can make a magic (adjustable) ring.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), 15dc into ring. (16 sts)
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1,
(1dc into next dc st., ch1)* repeat 15 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.

Round 3: ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into next ch1 space, 
(1dc into next dc st., 2dc into next ch1 space)* repeat 15 times around. (48 sts)
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 4: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into next 3 dc sts, ch2,
(1dc into next 4 dc sts, ch2)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of beginning ch3.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as 1trc of trc4tog), trc3tog over next 3 dc sts - first trc4tog made, ch5, 1dc into next ch2 space,
(ch5, trc4tog over next 4 dc sts, ch5, 1dc into next ch2 space)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1dc on top of trc3tog at the beginning of the round.

Round 6: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch5, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1dc into first sc.

Round 7: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1dc) space of the previous round, 
(ch6, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1trc into first sc.

Round 8: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1trc) space of the previous round, 
(ch6, 1sc into next ch6 space)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with ch2 + 1trc into first sc.

Round 9: ch1, 1sc into that same (ch2 + 1trc) space of the previous round,

Rectangular Granny Stitch Placemat - Free Crochet Pattern

Written Pattern:

Size: The placemat measures approximately 
30 cm x 23 cm (11.8 inches x 9 inches).
You can adjust the size of the placemat by adding or subtracting rounds and making the foundation row longer or shorter.



Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

Materials Used:
  • Sport weight mercerized cotton yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Madame Tricote Paris Camilla yarn in the colorway 5329 (light green). 47 grams (118 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3.0mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

dc2tog (dc2cluster) - 2 double crochet closed together

ch3picot - ch3, insert your hook into base of that ch3, yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.



Instructions:

Foundation row: (ch3, dc2tog into 3rd ch from hook)* repeat 3 times.

Cherry Blossom Square Motif - Free Crochet Pattern

I have got a beautiful Cherry Blossom Square Motif crochet pattern for you today.
It's worked up in 6 rounds using sport weight mercerised 100% cotton yarn and a 3,5 mm crochet hook. The square motifs are all joined along the way using the ''join as you go'' method. You can use them for pillow covers, afghans, tablecloths, tops dresses or any other projects, the possibilities are endless.

Written Pattern:

Size: The motif measures approximately 10 cm x 10 cm (4 inches x 4 inches).

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate.

Materials Used:
  • Sport weight yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Alize Bahar mercerised 100% cotton yarn in the colorways 143 (powder pink) and 368 (camel). 7 grams ( 18,5 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3.5mm (US size E4) crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.


Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
dc4(5)tog - 4 or 5 double crochet closed together

dc4(5)tog4(5) double crochet closed together - (yarn over, insert the hook into indicated ch space, yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook)* repeat 3(4) more times. Now you have 5(6) loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5(6) loops.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.



How To Crochet The Square Motif

Start with ch4. Join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch1, 8sc into ring. Join with a sl st. into first sc at the beginning of the round.

Round 2: ch1, 1sc into same st., ch3,
(1sc into next sc st., ch3)* repeat 7 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc at the beginning of the round.

Round 3: sl st. into next ch3 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc of dc5tog), dc4tog into same ch3 space - first dc5tog made, ch6,
(dc5tog into next ch3 space, ch6)* repeat 7 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of dc4tog at the beginning of the round.

Round 4: sl st. into next 2 ch sts of next ch6, ch1, 1sc into same ch6 space, ch4, 1sc into same ch4 space, ch4,
(1sc into next ch6 space, ch4, 1sc into same ch6 space, ch4)* repeat 7 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc at the beginning of the round.

Round 5: sl st. into next ch4 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 3dc into same ch4 space, ch2, 4dc into same ch4 space, 4hdc into next ch4 space, 3sc into next ch4 space, 4hdc into next ch4 space,

Ch1, cut off the yarn fasten off (skip this step when continuing with the same yarn!).

Round 6: ch1, 1sc into same st., ch4, skip next 2 sts, 1sc into next st., (1sc, ch6, 1sc) into next ch2 space, 
(1sc into next st., (ch4, skip next 2 sts, 1sc into next st.)* repeat 6 times, (1sc, ch6, 1sc) into next ch2 space)* repeat 3 times around.
1sc into next st., ch4, (skip next 2 sts, 1sc into next st., ch4)* repeat 4 times.
Join with a sl st. into first sc at the beginning of the round.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.



How To Join The Squares (Join As You Go Method)

The square motifs are joined at ch6 and ch4 spaces in the last round.
We are going to join the motifs together while working the last round
Start with one completed square motif. 
Work the second square until you finish Round 5



Start Round 6: ch1, 1sc into same st., ch4, skip next 2 sts, 1sc into next st., 1sc into next ch2 space, ch3,



Drop the loop of the hook, insert hook from front to back into ch6 space of the first square motif’s final round. Pick up the loop and pull it through the ch6 space.



Ch3,



1sc into that same ch2 space, 



1sc into next st, ch2,


Drop the loop of the hook, insert hook from front to back into next ch4 space of the first motif’s final round. Pick up the loop and pull it through the ch4 space.


Ch2, skip 2 sts, 1sc into next st.




(Ch2. Drop the loop of the hook, insert hook from front to back into next ch4 space of the first motif’s final round. Pick up the loop and pull it through the ch4 space. Ch2, skip 2 sts, 1sc into next st.)* repeat 5 more times.

1sc into next ch2 space, ch3. Drop the loop of the hook, insert hook from front to back into next ch6 space of the first square motif’s final round. Pick up the loop and pull it through the ch6 space. Ch3, 1sc into that same ch2 space. 



Finish the motif you are working on to the end of the round and fasten off.



Shared Corner Join 

This join takes place where motifs 1 and 2 are already joined. Follow the previous steps in the same way until you get to the corner join area. 
Ch3, drop the loop of the hook, insert hook into corner from front to back where motifs 1 and 2 are joined. Pick up a loop and pull it through. 


Ch3, 1sc into same ch2 space.



Finish the motif you are working on to the end of the round and fasten off. 


Continue following the previous steps in the same way until all motifs are joined together. The corner join of 4th motif takes place where motifs 1, 2 and 3 are already joined.
