Crochet Doily Placemat Mandala - Free Pattern

Today i have a crochet Doily Placemat Mandala pattern to share with you.
It's suitable for beginners who are familiar with the basic stitches.
This pattern can be also turned into a rug by using a thick yarn and a large crochet hook.

Written Pattern

Size:
The doily measures approximately 30 cm (11.8 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level:
Easy to Intermediate



Materials Used:

  • Sport weight mercerized cotton yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Madame Tricote Paris Camilla yarn in the colorways 4917 (light blue) and 5530 (yellow). 35 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3 mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.



Abbreviations (US terms)
st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet

ch4picot - ch4, insert the hook into first ch, yarn over, pull the yarn through all loops on hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.




Instructions


Start with the light blue yarn.

Ch5 and join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring. Or, you can make a magic (adjustable) ring.



Round 1: ch2 (counts as a hdc), 15hdc into the ring. Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1, 
(1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat 15 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 3: ch2 (counts as a hdc), 2hdc into each ch1 space and 1hdc into each st. around.  (48 sts)
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2.

Round 4: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch2, 
(skip 1 st., 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off.

Join the yellow yarn to any of ch2 spaces of Round 4.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into that same ch2 space , ch1, 
(2dc into next ch2 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 6: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(3dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 7: sl st. into next 2 sts, sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(3dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off.

Join the light blue yarn to any of ch1 spaces of Round 7.

Round 8: ch3 (counts as a dc), 3dc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(4dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 9: sl st. into next 3 sts, sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 3dc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 
(4dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 10: ch1, 1sc into same st., 1sc into each st. and into each ch1 space around. (120sts). 
Join with a sl st. into first sc.



Round 11: ch1, 1sc into same st., ch5, 
(skip 2 sts, 1sc into next st., ch5)* repeat 39 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into first sc.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off.

Join the yellow yarn to any of ch5 spaces of Round 11.

Round 12: ch1, 1sc into that same ch5 space, 
(ch6, 1sc into next ch5 space)* repeat 39 times around. 
Join with ch3 + 1dc into first sc.

Round 13: ch1, 1sc into that (ch3 + 1dc) space of the previous round, ch2, (1trc, ch1, 1trc, ch1, 1trc, ch2, ch4picot, ch2, 1trc, ch1, 1trc, ch1, 1trc) into next ch6 space, ch2,
(1sc into next ch6 space, ch2, (1trc, ch1, 1trc, ch1, 1trc, ch2, ch4picot, ch2, 1trc, ch1, 1trc, ch1, 1trc) into next ch6 space, ch2)* repeat 19 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in all ends.

Crochet Summer Skies Doily - Easy Pattern

Today i would like to share with you one of my favorite patterns - Crochet Summer Skies Doily. It is so simple and elegant at the same time. 
All you need to start is some yarn or thread in the color of your choice and a crochet hook.

  • Fingering weight 100% cotton yarn, size 1 - super fine. I used Alize Bella yarn in the colorway 487 (orange). 24 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.


Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet

INSTRUCTIONS
