Tea Party Placemat Free Crochet Pattern

Today i would like to introduce you to my Tea Party Placemat crochet pattern. I also have a matching Tea Party Coaster pattern. 
This lovely placemat will be a great addition to your dining room or kitchen.

Written Pattern:


Size: The placemat measures approx. 26 cm (10.2 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate.


Materials Used:

  • Fingering weight cotton yarn, size 1 - super fine. I used Alize Bella yarn in the colorways  613 (Pink blush) and 28 (Rose). 26 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet


ch4picot - ch4, insert your hook into the center of the base stitch (or, insert the hook into the first ch), yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

V stitch - (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into same stitch (space).

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.






Instructions:

Start with ch5, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), 11dc into the ring. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into same st., 2dc into each st. around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.


Round 3: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1,
(1dc into next st., ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 4: sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into that same ch1 space, ch1,
(2dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 5: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into that same ch1 space, ch1,
(2dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 6: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into that same ch1 space, ch1,
(3dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 7: sl st. into next 2 sts, sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into that same ch1 space, ch1,
(3dc into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 8: repeat Round 7.

Round 9: sl st. into next 2 sts, sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into that same ch1 space, ch1, 2dc into that same ch1 space, ch1,
((2dc, ch1, 2dc) into next ch1 space, ch1)* repeat 23 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Ch1, cut off the yarn , fasten off. (Skip this step when continuing with the same yarn)!

Join the new yarn to the second ch1 space of the previous round (i joined the yarn with a simple knot).
Or, continue with the same yarn by working a sl st. back into last ch1 space of Round 9.




Round 10: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1, 1dc into that same ch1 space, ch2, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch2,
(1 V stitch  into next ch1 space, ch2, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.


Round 11: sl st. into next ch1 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into that same ch1 space, ch2, 2dc into that same ch1 space, ch1,
((2dc, ch2, 2dc) into next V stitch, ch1)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.


Round 12: sl st. into next st., sl st. into next ch2 space, ch4 (counts as a trc), 1trc into that same ch2 space, ch4 picot, 2trc into that same ch2 space, ch4picot, 2trc into that same ch2 space, ch4picot, 2trc into that same ch2 space, ch2, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch2,
((2trc, ch4picot, 2trc, ch4picot, 2trc, ch4picot, 2trc) into next ch2 space, ch2, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch2)* repeat 23 times around.  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch4.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in all ends.
