Aurora Doily Placemat - Free Crochet Pattern

Today i would like to introduce you to my Aurora Doily Placemat crochet pattern. This would be a nice project for your table or as a gift for any occasion.
If you can crochet in the round and know how to work single, half double, double and treble crochet, you are good to go.

Written Pattern:

Size: The doily placemat measures approx. 28 cm (11 inches) in diameter.
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate.

Materials Used:
  • Fingering weight cotton yarn, size 1 - super fine. I used Alize Bella 100% cotton yarn in the colorway 488 (yellow). 25 grams (90 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet

ch3picot -  ch3, insert the hook into first ch (into 3rd ch from the hook), yarn over, pull the yarn through all loops on hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.


Instructions:


Start with ch5. Join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch2 (counts as a hdc), 15hdc into the ring. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch2, 1dc into same st.,
(skip next hdc st., (1dc, ch2, 1dc) into next hdc st.)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch.

Round 3: sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), ch3, 1dc into same ch2 space, ch1,
((1dc, ch3, 1dc) into next ch2 space, ch1)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch.

Round 4: sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (counts as a dc), 8dc into same ch3 space, 1sc into next ch1 space,
(9dc into next ch3 space, 1sc into next ch1 space)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 5: sl st. into next 4 dc sts, ch1, 1sc into same st., ch7,
(skip next 4 dc sts, skip next sc st., skip next 4 dc sts, 1sc into next dc st., ch7)* repeat 7 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into first sc.

Round 6: ch3 (counts as a dc), 9dc into next ch7 space,
(1dc into next sc st., 9dc into next ch7 space)* repeat 7 times around. (80)  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 7: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into same st., 1dc into next 4 dc sts,
(2dc into next dc st., 1dc into next 4 dc sts)* repeat 15 times around. (96)  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 8: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into same st., 1dc into next 5 dc sts,
(2dc into next dc st., 1dc into next 5 dc sts)* repeat 15 times around. (112)  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 9: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into same st., 1 dc into next 6 dc sts,
(2dc into next dc st, 1dc into next 6 dc sts)* repeat 15 times around. (128)  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 10: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into each dc st. around. (128)  
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 11: ch1 (doesn’t count as a st.), 1sc into same st.,
(ch4, skip next dc st., 1sc into next dc st.)* repeat 63 times around. 
Join with ch1 + 1dc into first sc.

Round 12: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1, 1dc into that (ch1 + 1dc) space of the previous round - makes the first V stitch.
(V stitch (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into next ch4 space)* repeat 63 times around. 
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 13: sl st. into  first V stitch of the previous round (into next ch1 space), ch1, 1sc into same V stitch, ch1, skip next V stitch, (1trc, ch1)* repeat 7 times into next V stitch,
(skip next V stitch, 1sc into next V stitch, ch1, skip next V stitch, (1trc, ch1)* repeat 7 times into next V stitch)* repeat 15 times around. 
Join with a sl st. into first sc.

Round 14: (ch3, skip next ch1 space, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch3, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch4, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch2, ch3picot, ch2, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch4, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch3, 1sc into next ch1 space, ch3, sl st. into next sc st.)* repeat 16 times around.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
