It's that time of the year again - time to make crochet Christmas decorations.
They are worked up in three rounds using sport weight cotton yarn and a 3 mm crochet hook. You can string them into garlands or use them as decorations around the house.

The snowflake measures approx. 12 cm (4.7 inches) in diameter.

Materials used:
- Sport weight mercerized cotton yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Madame Tricote Paris Camilla yarn in the colorway 0000 (white). 5 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
- 3mm crochet hook.
- Scissors.
- Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.
Abbreviations (US terms):
st. - stitch
sl st. - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
trc - treble crochet
dc2(3)tog - 2 or 3 double crochet closed together
ch3(5)picot - ch3(5), insert your hook into the center of the base stitch (or, insert the hook into the first ch), yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.
()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.
Instructions:
Start with ch5, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1,
(1dc into the ring, ch1)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3 (into 3rd chain).
Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), dc2tog into that same st., ch3, dc3tog into next st., ch5,
(dc3tog into next st., ch3, dc3tog into next st., ch5)* repeat 5 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the dc2tog.
Round 3: sl st. into next ch3 space, ch1, (1sc, ch3picot, 1sc) into that same ch3 space, (3dc, 2trc, ch5picot, 2trc, 3dc) into next ch5 space,
((1sc, ch3picot, 1sc) into next ch3 space, (3dc, 2trc, ch5picot, 2trc, 3dc) into next ch5 space)* repeat 5 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
Instructions:
Start with ch5, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), ch1,
(1dc into the ring, ch1)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3 (into 3rd chain).
