I've got an easy Star Coaster crochet pattern for you today. It uses basic crochet stitches and only consists of 5 rounds.
These cute star shaped coasters will be the perfect way to dress up your coffee table. They will also look great anywhere in your home.
Below you will find a video tutorial for the coaster as well as the written instructions.

Written Pattern:
Size: The coaster measures approx. 14 cm (5.5 inches) in diameter.
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate.
Materials Used:
- Sport weight mercerized cotton yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Madame Tricote Paris Camilla yarn in the colorway 5309. 7 grams of yarn needed for this pattern.
- 3mm crochet hook.
- Scissors.
- Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.
Abbreviations (US terms):
st. - stitch
ch - chain
sl st. - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.
Start with ch5, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into the ring, ch2,
(3dc into the ring, ch2)* repeat 4 times.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 2: ch3 (counts as a dc), 1dc into next 2 sts, 2dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 2dc into that same ch2 space,
(1dc into next 3 sts, 2dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 2dc into that same ch2 space)* repeat 4 times around.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 3: sl st. into next st., ch1, 1sc into that same st., ch2, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 3dc into that same ch2 space, ch2,
(skip 3 sts, 1sc into next st., ch2, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 3dc into that same ch2 space, ch2)* repeat 4 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc.
Round 4: (ch3, skip next ch2, skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 3dc into that same ch2 space, skip next 3 sts, skip next ch2, sl st. into next st.)* repeat 5 times around.
Round 5: 3sc into next ch3 space, 1hdc into next st., 1dc into next 2 sts, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch3, 3dc into that same ch2 space, 1dc into next 2 sts, 1hdc into next st., 3sc into next ch3 space, sl st. into next st.)* repeat 5 times around.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
Instructions:
Start with ch5, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.
Round 3: sl st. into next st., ch1, 1sc into that same st., ch2, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 3dc into that same ch2 space, ch2,
(skip 3 sts, 1sc into next st., ch2, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 3dc into that same ch2 space, ch2)* repeat 4 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first sc.
Round 4: (ch3, skip next ch2, skip next 3 sts, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch2, 3dc into that same ch2 space, skip next 3 sts, skip next ch2, sl st. into next st.)* repeat 5 times around.
Round 5: 3sc into next ch3 space, 1hdc into next st., 1dc into next 2 sts, 3dc into next ch2 space, ch3, 3dc into that same ch2 space, 1dc into next 2 sts, 1hdc into next st., 3sc into next ch3 space, sl st. into next st.)* repeat 5 times around.
Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.
