Frosty Drops Mittens Free Crochet Pattern

The winter is almost here and we all know there's nothing better than warm mittens made by yourself. ☃❆
Today i am sharing my Frosty Drops Mittens crochet pattern. It uses popcorn stitches which pop out like little balls.

Materials Used:

DK weight yarn ( I used Audine Wools Halo DK weight, 216 metres – 100 grams, 50% – Alpaca, 30% Wool – Merino, 20% Manufactured Fibers - Nylon / Polyamide). 62 grams needed for this pattern (both mittens).
4.0mm (US size G6) crochet hook.
Yarn needle
Scissors
Stitch marker

Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate.

Size:

The pattern is written in one size (M) which will fit an average adult woman. You can size the mittens up or down by changing a yarn weight as well as using a different crochet hook.

Gauge:

7 stitches x 5,5 rows = 5cm (2 inches) in half double crochet

Pattern Notes:

Mittens are crocheted in the round.
They are worked from the top down.
Popcorns are only crocheted on the upper side of the mittens.
Ch2 at the beginning of each round (except for the Round 23 – 28) counts as the first hdc.
Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2 at the end of each round (except for the Round 23 – 28 and Round 7 of the Thumb).

Abbreviations (US terms):

st. - stitch

sl st. – slip stitch

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

hdc2tog – 2 half double crochet closed together

dc – double crochet

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.

dc4popcorn - 4 double crochet popcorn stitch – work 4dc into same stitch. Drop loop from the hook, insert your hook from front to back into the first dc. Place dropped loop on the hook and pull through stitch.

Instructions:

Both Hands:

Start with ch4, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch2, 6hdc into the ring. (7)

Round 2: ch2, 1hdc into the base of that ch2, 2hdc into each st. around. (14)

Round 3: ch2, 1hdc into the base of that ch2, 2hdc into each st. around. (28)

Round 4 – 9: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28).

Right Hand:

Round 10: ch2, 1dc into next 4 sts,
(dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 3 sts)* repeat 3 times, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 10 sts. (28)

Round 11: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28).

Round 12: ch2, 1hdc into next 7 sts, (dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 3 sts)* repeat 2 times, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 11 sts. (28)

Round 13: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28)

Round 14: ch2, 1hdc into next 10 sts, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 3 sts, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 12 sts. (28)

Round 15: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28)

Round 16: ch2, 1hdc into next 13 sts, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 13 sts. (28)

Round 17: Creating a thumb hole – ch2, 1hdc into next 2 sts, ch5, skip 5 st., 1hdc into next 20 sts.

Left Hand:

Round 10: ch2, 1hdc into next st., (dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 3 sts)* repeat 3 times, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 13 sts. (28)

Round 11: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28).

Round 12: ch2, 1hdc into next 4 sts, (dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 3 sts)* repeat 2 times, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 14 sts. (28)

Round 13: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28)

Round 14: ch2, 1hdc into next 7 sts, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 3 sts, dc4popcorn into next st., 1hdc into next 15 sts. (28)

Round 15: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28)

Round 16: ch2, 1hdc into next 10 sts, dc4popcorn into next st, 1hdc into next 16 sts. (28)

Round 17: Creating a thumb hole – ch2, 1hdc into next 20 sts, ch5, skip 5 st., 1hdc into next 2 sts.

Both Hands:

Round 18: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (28)

Round 19 – 22: repeat Round 18.

Round 23: ch1, 1sc into the base of that ch1, 1sc into each st. around. (28)

Rounds 24 – 28 are worked in continuous spirals without joining the rounds with a sl st.: 1sc into back loop of each st. around.

Use a stitch marker to mark the first or last stitch of a round to keep track.

Finish with a sl st. into the first sc of the previous round.

Ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off.

Thumb (Both Hands):

Round 1: join the yarn with a sl st. to the thumb hole opening, ch2, 13hdc evenly around. Some of the stitches may not be into a stitch, they may be worked into stitch posts.

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch2.

Round 2 - 4: ch2, 1hdc into each st. around. (14)

Round 5: ch2, hdc2tog over next 2 sts, 1hdc into next 5 sts, hdc2tog over next 2 sts, 1hdc into next 4 sts. (12)

Round 6: ch2, 1hdc into each st. (12)

Round 7: ch2, 1hdc into next st., (hdc2tog over next 2 sts)* repeat 5 times. Join with a sl st. into first hdc.

Finish off leaving a long tale. Close the top of the thumb by weaving the yarn tail through each stitch around the top using a yarn needle. Pull it to close the hole, fasten off and weave it inside the thumb.

Weave in all ends using a yarn needle.

Crochet Festive Little Doily Free Pattern

I made another doily pattern and thought you would like to see it. 😃
This little doily is lovely to make and it works up quickly. It may resamble a snowflake but i think you will like to use this all year round.

The doily measures approximately 17cm (6.7 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level:
Easy to Intermediate

Materials used:

Madame Tricote Paris mercerized cotton yarn; sport weight, size 2 ; 50g, 125m;

3.0mm crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):

sl st. - slip stitch

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

dc2(3)tog - 2(3) double crochet closed together

V st. (V stitch) - (1dc, ch2, 1dc) into same st.

ch3picot - ch3, insert the hook into the first ch, yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops on the hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.

Start with a magic (adjustable) ring or ch5 and join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: ch3 (will count as the first dc), 17dc into the ring. (18st.)

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 2: ch3 (will count as the first dc), 1dc into the base of that ch3, 1dc into next st.,

(2dc into next st., 1dc into next st.)* repeat 8 times around. (27st.)

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 3: ch3 (will count as the first dc), ch2, 1dc into the base of that ch3 , ch2,

(skip 2 st., V st. into next st., ch2)* repeat 8 times around.

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 4: sl st. into next ch2 space (first V st.), ch3 (will count as the first dc), (2dc, ch2, 3dc) into that same first V st., ch1,

((3dc, ch2, 3dc) into next V st., ch1)* repeat 8 times.

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 5: sl st. into next 2 sts, sl st. into next ch2 space, ch3 (will count as the first dc), (2dc, ch3, 3dc) into that same ch2 space, ch3,

((3dc, ch3, 3dc) into next ch2 space, ch3)* repeat 8 times around.

Join with a sl st. on top of the ch3.

Round 6: sl st. into next 2sts, sl st. into next ch3 space, ch3 (will count as the first dc), (dc2tog, ch2, ch3picot, ch2, dc3tog, ch2, ch3picot, ch2, dc3tog) into that same ch3 space, ch4, 1sc into next ch3 space, ch4,

Join with a sl st. on top of the dc2tog.

ch1, cut off the yarn, fasten off and weave in the ends.

Crochet Minty Doily/Motif Free Pattern

The doily measures approx. 16cm (6.3 inches) in diameter.

Skill Level:

Easy to Intermediate

Materials used:
Alize Bella 100% cotton yarn, 50 grams, 180 metres, fingering weight, size 1 - super fine;
3.0mm (C/2) crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US terms):
sl st. - slip stitch ch - chain sc - single crochet dc - double crochet trc - treble crochet dc2(3)tog - 2(3) double crochet closed together ch4picot - ch4, insert the hook back into first ch , yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

()* - repeat the instructions between the brackets the number of times indicated.

Written Pattern: Start with a magic (adjustable) ring or ch5 and join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring. Round 1: ch3 (will count as the first dc), 15dc into the ring. Materials used:

3.0mm crochet hook, sport weight, size 2 cotton yarn.

trc - treble crochet

trc4tog - 4 treble crochet closed together.

Instructions:

Start with ch4, join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring.
